Readability is about making your digital content clear and easy to understand. When you focus on readability, you increase the chance your target audience will actually read and interact with your content.

Basic rules:

  • Use short, easy words.
  • Shorten your sentences
  • Cut adjectives or adverbs if they don't help understand the text
  • Drop the jargon
  • Use paragraphs to structure your text
  • Strive for readability grade of 8 (average for the general public)
